“Zamyn-Uud Gegeen 15MW Solar Power Plant” Project is under implementation

Zamyn-Uud soum has extensive energy loss due to the fact that the energy is supplied via network stretching from this isolated location of 750 km from Ulaanbaatar city. Therefore, this Solar Power Plant development in the end of isolated OHL and its connection to the Central Grid will enable regional energy efficiency, supply improvement and provision of quality and reliable energy use to customers.

“Zamyn-Uud Gegeen 15MW Solar Power Plant” Project will make the following impacts after its commissioning from the environmental perspective:  The power plant will produce electricity equaling to approximately 28 thousand households, thereby reducing approximately 800 thousand tons of greenhouse gas to be generated by energy production, and also saving approximately 27 thousand tons of coal and 202 thousand tons of water use.

The solar power plant is planned to be of 15MW capacity and the features of the project include modern technology solar panels by Sharp Corporation from Japan and annual supply of 28.6 million kW energy to the Central Grid of Mongolia using leading SMA inverters from Germany. The project investors are Shigemitsu Shoji Group and Sharp Corporation from Japan, and ‘Erchim Teeg’ Company from Mongolia. In addition, the project owner is ‘Naran Teeg’ Company and EPC contractor is the consortium of MCS International LLC and Sharp Corporation. The project scope includes the development of each 320 V capacity 51,840 solar panels, 10/110 kV substation and 6 km long 2 circuit 110 kV OHL in 45 ha total area.
